Rocket man – out of the start like a flash!

Here is Cancellara’s SRAM RED equipped Specialized SHIV 3 time trial machine which he rode to victory at today’s Tour prologue
World time trial champion and SRAM RED rider Fabian Cancellara (Saxo Bank) won today’s Tour de France prologue in stunning fashion with a time of 10:00:48 over the 8.9 km course.
Cancellara’s Specialized SHIV 3 was fully equipped with SRAM RED drivetrain, which includes SRAM’s Olympic Gold issue 54 tooth chainring, SRAM RED rear derailleur, SRAM RED front derailleur, SRAM 900 carbon brake levers, and SRAM’s innovative 1090 R2C (return to center) aero shift levers. Fabian wheels of choice were Zipp’s 1080 front and Super 9 rear disc.

Since Fabian put RED in yellow, tomorrow will get yellow RED – so before tomorrow’s stage Fabian will get SRAM’s new Limited Tour Edition groupset installed on his Specialized S-works SL3 road bike. The full black anodized finish features yellow graphics (and will be available to consumers this fall). The color is obviously a tribute to the Tour but also to SRAM’s 2009 success, where SRAM athletes swept the podium.
SRAM athletes Lance Armstrong (RadioShack) finished fourth, Alberto Contador (Astana) sixth, and Levi Leipheimer (RadioShack) eighth. Look for full race report here on TRD.
