The Trek-Livestrong U-23 team hosted a mini camp last week in Austin, TX. The riders were hosted by Mellow Johnny’s bike shop, which also serves as their and Team Radioshack’s U.S. service course.
Only the domestic riders attended this ‘Mini’ camp, while the foreign riders will wait until their second camp in February. The riders were pleased to see their new bikes; The Trek Madone Project One “Unity” bike, which is spec’d with full SRAM RED components. The riders had the opportunity to be fit by Kevin Livingston’s Pedal Hard fit, testing and training program out of the shop.
The team will have 14 riders, 11 being new youngsters that have just come into to the program directed by Axel Merckx. With many of the departing riders moving into the pro ranks, the large turnover is a great indication that this team is thriving and establishing themselves as a powerhouse developmental team. Heading into our third year of sponsoring the program, we are once again very pleased to see the new faces that will work their way up the ranks.

Axel is pleased with all the new guys and bikes for the 2011 season

Team mechanic Bill McPherson builds up on of the rider’s home bikes…
Not too shabby of a training bike!

Grant, helps set-up on of the riders on their new bike before getting a lactate test

They’ll be stopping down on our SRAM RED cranks

Lil’ coffee before the ride in the neighboring cafe…

They’ll certainly fly in the time trials on their Trek Speed Concepts. All SRAM RED with our R2C Aero Shifters

Then it was a nice training ride to get used to the new bikes in and around Austin
We’ll look forward to their successes during the 2011 season!
