After almost seven months off, Jonathan Brownlee (GBR) came back to racing at the ITU San Diego (US). Before the race, he said he was aiming only to do well and maybe a podium. He did more than that! He conquered the ITU World Triathlon San Diego in 1 hour, 48 minutes, 46 seconds by controlling the race from the start to the finish. Sven Riederer (SUI) took the silver medal and Richard Murray (RSA) took the bronze.
For his first race of the season, Jonathan could rely on his newly installed and World class SRAM RED-2012 groupset. Combined with his Boardman Air/9.8 bike he could attack the ride with confidence and start his run with the best possible position for the win. Fast and accurate shifting, powerful and aero braking and ergonomic shift levers, SRAM RED-2012 delivered the performance advantage to Jonathan on the 40km ride.
The 22 years old British triathlete, Jonathan Brownlee, will now focus on the ITU Madrid (May 26th) and ITU Kitzbühel races (June 23rd) to fine tune his preparation for the London Olympics. After his great results in 2011 and this incredible race, Jonathan is one of the men to beat for the Olympic title!
