SRAM climbs with you – Schwalbe-TOUR-Transalp 2012

SRAM will be at the 2012 Schwalbe-TOUR-Transalp to support enthusiast riders.

From June 24th to June 30th the Schwalbe-TOUR-Transalp 808 km mountain stage-race will roll over 17 passes with 18,885 meters of climbing within the Alps. For its 10th anniversary, it will start in Mittenwald (Germany) and end in Arco (Italy). During those seven days SRAM will provide tech support to the riders.

On top of the tech support, SRAM and Zipp sponsor the Team TOUR powered by CUBE, a team of 12 riders created and managed by the biggest European road bike Magazine, TOUR Magazin. The Cube frames are equipped with SRAM FORCE groupsets, Zipp 101 wheels and Zipp Service Course SL bars, stems and seatposts. This team is racing all year long, but this is their main event.

For specific events such as Schwalbe-TOUR-Transalp, riders can have access to the Zipp 303 Firecrest wheels and the WiFLi system.

Beside the TOUR Team sponsorship, five SRAM technicians will take care of every SRAM and/or ZIPP equipped riders during the race. For that, SRAM has setup a partnership with ROSE Mail-order Shop. The shop will sell a wide range of parts, which then can be mounted and setup free of charge by the SRAM tech crew.

In past Schwalbe-TOUR-Transalp editions, the most successful product has been by far, the SRAM WiFLi system. WiFLi helps riders to easily climb all mountains, even the steepest ones such as the Mortirolo, and allows them to keep energy for the next stages.

WiFLi is a 2×10 technology that offers a wider gear range than most triple systems, faster shifting, and nearly half a kilogram lighter on the bike. This year the toughest climbs will be the Timmelsjoch (Stage 2) and the famous “Sella Ronda” (Stage 4). All WiFLi equiped riders will be able to climb faster and with more ease!
