For one of the most prominent events in the sport, taking place only every four years, SRAM triathletes performed incredibly well in London in front of thousand of supporters.
Pre-race favorite Alistair Brownlee (GBR), the 24 year-old British prodigy, controlled the race from start to finish with a winning time of 1:46:25. Javier Gomez (ESP) captured silver and Jonathan Brownlee (GBR) completed the podium with bronze.
Just beyond the medals was a fierce battle. The two top French triathletes, David Hauss and Laurent Vidal, worked together to take 4th and 5th place respectively. Finishing 6th was 2008 Beijing Champion Jan Frodeno (GER), who just returned from serious injury.
On the women’s side, after a powerful and amazing sprint battle, Lisa Norden (SWE) claimed silver with an identical time (1:59:48) as the new London Champion Nicola Spirig (SUI).
In London, the SRAM RED-2012 delivered what the best triathletes were expecting – fast and accurate shifting, powerful aero braking, and wind-cheating ergonomics.
SRAM is proud to equip the world’s best triathletes and would like to thank them for the incredible results and exciting racing. And now we return to our regularly scheduled triathlon events for the next four years. See you in Rio!
