We’ve come to know him as “Gentleman” Pete at SRAM, and the perfectly polite and well-spoken Aussie just won his first ever Ironman® World Championship in Kona on SRAM RED.
As kind as he is, Jacobs was the perfect scientist and executioner on the bike. The win was part of a precision plan that included riding the world’s lightest, fastest, and most ergo componentry, SRAM RED.
The new champion stated that the R2C (return to center) shift levers are the most comfortable he’s ever ridden. “Comfort on the bike allows me to make a smooth transition to the marathon leg, and that is of critical importance.”
The man from Sydney rode his best bike split ever, a 4.35:15, at an average of 24.4 mph’s, spinning his 54 chainring, 11-23 cassette and 172.5 cranks.
Congrats and good on ya, mate!
