Since her request to return to SRAM componentry for 2012/13 season, Trek Cyclocross Collective’s Katie Compton has done nothing but cross finish lines first. The eight-time US National Champion had her share of challenges last season, but has found nothing but the form, equipment, and support for a clear path to victory this year.
Compton’s Trek Ion CX bike is equipped with all new SRAM RED, Avid Shorty Ultimate brakes, and she recently added the mud clearing superhero of cassettes, the new SRAM X-Glide (XG) 1090. The lightweight cassette features hundreds of mud clearing ports. She recently sent us an unsolicited message that it’s her “favorite cassette ever!”
The Colorado Springs resident rode SRAM for three of her most successful seasons, and we were definitely excited to have her back. We look forward towards the second half of the season as KfC shoots for a World Championship in Louisville, KY. Compton has finished on the World Championship podium three times, two seconds and a third. This year Compton wants top step.
