2013 SRAM Triathlon roster: Stronger than Ever!

The Best Olympic Distance, 70.3® and Ironman® athletes ride SRAM RED

SRAM’s involvement in Triathlon is a story of passion that began in 1987 when Stan Day, SRAM’s president decided to improve the gear shifting system while training for triathlons on weekends. Since those humble beginnings SRAM has always supported Triathlon by developing best-in-class products, sponsoring the best triathletes in the world as well as the rising stars of the sport.

For 2013, in the Ironman and 70.3 disciplines, SRAM continues to equip the World’s Best: Chris McCormack (AUS), two-time Ironman World Champion, Pete Jacobs (AUS), the current Ironman World Champion and Mirinda Carfrae (AUS), the 2010 Ironman World Champion. The list of marquee long-course athletes has been strengthen this year by 2012 Ironman 70.3 World Champion, Sebastien Kienle (GER), the “sport über biker”. Also new to SRAM this year, our Australian rising stars Josh Amberger and Ashleigh Gentle.

SRAM RED was re-introduced in 2012 with countless innovations, and RED remains the lightest, most ergonomic, and most efficient mechanical componentry in the world. Combined with the new SRAM R2C Aero shifters, Zipp® wheels, Zipp bar-stem-seat post, Quarq® Power Meter and SRAM pro race service, triathletes get the ultimate Performance Advantage against the clock and their competitors.

In the Olympic distance, the Brownlee brothers, Alistair and Jonathan (GBR), and Javier Gomez (ESP), respectively Gold, Bronze and Silver Medalists at the 2012 London Olympic Games, have again confirmed their componentry of choice: SRAM RED! The best new-comer of 2012 and US high school national record holder in the 2 miles distance, Lukas Verzbicas, will be a major force in the Triathlon World. New Zealand Champion, Andrea Hewitt, made the same choice for 2013. Her list of victories and top fives in the ITU scene is impressive. We are also pleased to welcome the British and two-time World Cup Champion, Helen Jenkins.

In its first season, SRAM RED delivered what the best short-distance triathletes were expecting – fast and accurate shifting, powerful aero braking, and wind-cheating ergonomics. And that’s the reason why they CHOSE SRAM RED!
