During winter, the Czech superstar from Omega Pharma-Quick-Step Pro Cycling team will race several top Cyclocross events. The Bpost bank trofee #4 in Essen on December 21, 2013, will be his debut, followed by the World Cup #4 in Zolder (BEL). The Czech National Championship and the World Championships in Hoogerheide (NLD) are still not confirmed. Stybar has yet to decide whether he will take part.
For the last two years, the two-time cyclocross world champion has focused on road racing with great success. In 2013, he won the overall classification of the Eneco Tour with two stage victories, one stage of the Vuelta a España, the Tirreno-Adriatico Team Time Trial with his teammates and finished 6th at Paris-Roubaix. While road remains his key priority for 2014 and beyond, Stybar will use Cyclocross as part of his training for the Spring Classics, where he has high expectations.
On the Cyclocross scene, everybody knows and respects Styby. He has two World Championship Titles (2010 & 2011), one World Cup Title (2010) and six National Titles (2008 to 2013).
For most of his Cyclocross career, Stybar raced and won on SRAM RED and Avid Shorty Ultimate brakes. This ‘cross season you will see him on a Specialized CruX equipped with SRAM RED, Avid Shorty Ultimate brakes, Zipp 303 & 404 Firecrest Tubular wheels, Zipp Service Course SL bar & stem and Zipp SL Speed seatpost.
